A barely-there summer face — built to last in the heat.

The secret to summer makeup isn’t more product — it’s less, placed well. The goal is skin that looks like skin, just caught in good light. Five steps, no heavy hand, nothing that slides off by noon.

1 · Prep like the makeup is optional.

In summer, skincare is the base. Start on clean skin and give your serum and moisturizer a full two minutes to absorb before anything else — makeup applied over damp skin slides. For glow, press (don’t rub) a peptide or vitamin-C serum over the high points of the face. This is what makes “lit-from-within” read as skin, not highlighter.

2 · Sunscreen is non-negotiable.

Everything else here is optional; this isn’t. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ — and the artist trick is to choose one with a luminous or serum finish so it doubles as your glow primer. 3 · Apply a sheer base — even out, don’t cover.

Resist full foundation in heat. Use a skin tint, or a luminous foundation sheered way down: one pump pressed into the center of the face with a damp sponge or fingers, blended outward so the edges fade into bare skin. Leave the perimeter light. Spot-conceal only where you truly need it — under the eyes, around the nose. The face should look lived-in, not laid-on.

4 · Cream, not powder — for cheeks and glow.

Powder flattens; cream melts in and moves like skin, which is everything for this look. Tap a cream blush onto the apples of the cheeks and blend up toward the temple with your fingertips — finger warmth is what makes color disappear into skin. Keep it soft and sun-flushed, as if you’ve just come in from a walk in good light.

5 · Define softly, then finish.

Keep eyes and lips low-effort but intentional. First, brows: groomed brows do more for a bare face than any eyeshadow — fill sparsely and brush them up.
